Posting Schedule
by cbrin ([info]imaginary_rose)
at May 18th, 2012 (02:06 pm)

  • Posting begins in two weeks!
  • If a member of your team hasn't checked in, they can still check in up until the assigned posting date, but this is the schedule for now.
  • Some artists haven't received drafts yet. If they believe they've run out of enough time to read and create for a story, they will have to drop. So, writers, send them your draft as soon as possible.
  • *Your mixer did not check in or extenuating circumstances prevent your mixer from posting to the comm, so you'll have post your story and a link to the art
  • EDIT: Example Post
Format for Mixers:
-subject should be [title] by [mixer]
-cover art if you have one and then,

Format for Authors: (authors hosting on journal should use some version of this)
-subject should be [title] by [author]
-banner or cover if you have one and then,

Schedule )
Comment if you have any questions.

Okay, I won't be sending emails out for another couple of days because I still need to mirror the check in on dreamwidth. But if you know someone on your team is still participating, but they might not have seen the check in for whatever reason, shoot them an email or comment at the check in in their place. I'm trying to get a head count for posting days. At least, check the list for your name. I might have made a mistake.

Mixers! If your author dropped or you never had one, but still want to post your mix, comment at the check in. If you have multiple mixes, but only want to post one or two of them, specify which one. We'd love to hear what you put together.

Authors and Artists! If you need a later posting date, because you claimed late, haven't received a draft yet, or are just having difficulties, comment here with the mix name you're creating for. Not everyone can have a later posting date, obviously, and it might not be as late as you like, but I'll do the best I can.

Mandatory Check In

All right, guys! We've been getting a lot of comments and emails about missing members, so here is a mandatory check in. Respond to this with your username and what you are still participating as. If you're dropping out, please contact you're mixer and artist if you have one.

If you haven't responded in 48 hours to this, I'll send out an email. If you don't respond to the email in 48 hours I'm considering you dropped. This is for mixers, authors, and artists. Everyone needs to respond. Sorry if this is harsh, but we have to make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to posting days.

Next week, we'll figure out the posting days, so the mixers need to be on the lookout for that. Talk to your authors and artists about when would be best for them. Remember, posting begins June 1st.

We're so sorry about not being around, guys! We've been hit in real life as of late.

But! We're actually postponing dates again! I believe the initial "due dates" were May 1st, which is no longer the case.

Instead, posting will start June 1st. We'll be posting the list of posting dates as soon as we can. If you've mentioned (or we have) mentioned putting you towards the end of posting dates to give you more time due to issues with real life/other things, please let us know! If you've dropped out because of time restraints, please consider coming back in - we can and will work with you.

if you're good to go whenever, let us know!

Thanks, guys, for being so patient, and as always, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

So, remember! June 1st!

Second claims are officially open. Any artist can now claim another summary or multiple summaries; as many as can be conceivably handle. When claiming, just let us know if you want more than one otherwise we'll sign you up for your first highest available number. If you're new, artist sign up are still open.

ex. Claiming two
LJ user: name
Choice of Fic: 1
Choice of Fic: 2
Choice of Fic: 3
        ->>>>1 is yours...
                 3 is yours...

In April, we'll start asking about posting dates. Mixers will post a masterpost to the comm with links to art and fic, so please make sure you know who your mixer is and that you can contact them. If you're having some difficulties with contacting anyone on your team let us know early and we'll see what we can do.

We will also have a mandatory check in for all mixers, authors, and artists, some time in early April to minimize the amount of last minute drop outs, so be prepared for that. Remember all final mixes, fics, and art are due April 30. Posting begins May 1.

Questions, comments, or concerns can be addressed to the gmail account or to the faq post.

Fic/Story Claims - which means you, artists!
by Tabby ([info]postnotice)
at March 5th, 2012 (01:09 am)

All right, since we still have a few authors that have haven't been heard from, we're going to be doing a 'preview' window for you artists. So tomorrow night at midnight, we'll open this to comments/actual claims

Authors, this means that if you haven't gotten to send us in your header yet, there's still time. Also, if you're interested in checking out any remaining mixes to write for, you still can, although you won't get an artist, but you'd likely make a mixer very happy.

Mixers, if you don't see your mix here, it doesn't mean that your author didn't want art or that they dropped out; some of the authors didn't ask for art and others had an artist lined up. There are a few that have dropped, so if you're uncertain, feel free to ask!

If you're just joining us now, please head over to the artist sign up page before you grab one of these - I'm fairly certain they're still open.

When you claim a story, please post with this information:

Please include the number of the fic! (We ask for 3 choices in case someone grabs the same mix closely to the same time you do.)
One of the mods will be replying to you with your author and your mixer - you should definitely contact your author and if you don't hear back within a reasonable time period (48, maybe 72 hours), contact us & we'll see what we can do. You don't need to contact the mixer, but we're supplying the information in case you do.

I haven't blanked out any potential spoilers.

Questions? Direct them to the FAQ post or to our gmail, bigbangmixup@gmail.com.

rough drafts!
by Tabby ([info]postnotice)
at March 2nd, 2012 (06:04 pm)

Yes, March 1st is over, but if you still haven't sent in your rough draft, please do so! If you've handwritten your draft or are otherwise unable to send that in at the moment, just send in the header and let us know.

Thanks!

For convenience sake, here's the header you need:

We've received a few rough fic drafts and we'll be sending out confirmation emails within 48 hours once we receive it.

Mixers! If your mix hasn't been claimed (or your author had to drop out), please answer this for us:

Would you still like an author for your mix (we won't put the fic up for artists to claim, though, sorry!)? Otherwise, you're always welcome to pull your mix and wait for round 2 (assuming interest is high enough to have one, of course) or do whatever you please with it. Just please let us know!

>>>Remember, if you've recently dropped out or plan to, that you do not need a complete rough draft. You need enough for an artist to work with (if you want art) and knowledge that you'll definitely be able to finish it. This could mean that you only have a few thousand words or even just an outline. (If you've handwritten or are unable to get to your rough draft currently, just fill out the header on the rough drafts information post and send it to our gmail.)

Comments are screened on this particular post for mixers to answer the question above, so if you have questions, please direct them to the gmail account or to the faq post.

rough drafts!

We're about two weeks to the rough draft deadline, so here's some info about how to send your rough draft in.

Send an attached document of your fic (preferably .doc, .docx, .odt, .wps, .rtf, or a link to Google Docs) to bigbangmixup@gmail.com with the following information in the body of your email:
Title:
DW/LJ Handle:
Fandom(s)/Pairings:
Rating:
Genre(s):
Summary:
Warnings: (if any)
Mix you've based it off of (title/untitled # & lj user of your mixer):
Would you like art?: (yes/no/yes, but okay if none)
Any other notes:

What do I need in a rough draft? You need to a) know you can finish it (either through an outline or previous knowledge that you'll definitely be able to finish) and b) have enough for an artist to work with. Yes, vague.

C + P box:

Please include it all so we keep it neat!

There are still a few mixes left - so if you're able to sign up to be a pinch hitter for one of the mixes, we would superly appreciate it. Modly duties have been taken over by RL so we haven't been able to do much about it at all.
If your mix has not been chosen, we've been in contact. If your author drops in the next few weeks before drafts, we'll be in contact. If your author never submits a rough draft, we'll be in contact with them and then you, failing a response from them.

EDIT: Mixers with unclaimed mixes have been contacted as of 1:30 PM US CST. If you haven't received an email and you have an unclaimed mix, please let us know. Please check your email!

If you drop out, PLEASE let us know what mix you've dropped and let your mixer know that you've dropped out. Mixers no longer need to drop out, since their portion is complete (in case you were wondering ;). Unless, of course, you no longer wish to have your mix written for. Everyone thus far has done this--I'm just reiterating this information.

Thanks so much for being patient through the sometimes-ridiculously-messy first round! We're working out kinks for round two, assuming there'll be interest, and hopefully that one will run much smoother thanks to this round.
